Job Description
We are seeking an IT Business Analyst to join a cross-functional Agile development team and help translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements. This position will work closely with Product Owners, subject matter experts, business partners, Quality Assurance, and technology teams to understand business processes and define requirements at the user-story level.
The ideal candidate has experience with business analysis, Agile delivery, requirements gathering, documentation, and software testing processes. This individual will be responsible for breaking down business needs into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases while helping the team identify opportunities to improve business processes and products.
This role requires someone who can work independently, communicate effectively across different areas of the organization, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment when addressing moderately complex business problems.
Responsibilities:
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements at the user-story level
- Partner with Product Owners, subject matter experts, and business teams to understand business processes, workflows, and needs
- Participate as a member of an Agile development team
- Write and break down user stories and acceptance criteria
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Quality Assurance to define detailed test cases
- Create and maintain business and product documentation and artifacts
- Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Gather information and provide recommendations to support informed business decisions
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between business and technology teams
- Assist with testing activities and ensure requirements are accurately represented in test scenarios
- Research alternatives, analyze information, and make recommendations
- Balance multiple priorities while meeting project and operational deadlines
- Maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive business information
- Train and assist others with business processes and work procedures as needed
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 2 or more years of related professional experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 2–3 years of related experience involving business processes
- Experience with business analysis and/or project management
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies including Scrum and/or Kanban
- Experience gathering and documenting business requirements
- Ability to write and break down user stories, test cases, and acceptance criteria
- Knowledge of software and technology testing methods and procedures
- Strong documentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team
- Ability to organize time and resources and manage multiple high-priority assignments
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Computer proficiency, including spreadsheet and data manipulation tools
Preferred Skills:
- Property and casualty insurance industry experience
- Knowledge of insurance coverages, policy rating, endorsements, rating schemes, and insurance products
- Experience with application lifecycle management tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, or Rally
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery practices
- SQL knowledge

In the spirit of pay transparency, we want to share that the pay range for this position is $45 – $56/hour, not including benefits or additional compensation. If you are hired, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition, we also believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth
