Are you an accountant who enjoys owning the full financial picture of a commercial real estate portfolio? Our client is seeking a Real Estate Accountant to oversee the day-to-day accounting for a diverse portfolio of commercial properties, including industrial, flex, and office assets.
This is a highly visible role offering broad responsibility across property accounting, tenant billing, financial reporting, capital project tracking, and month-end close. You'll work closely with company leadership and play an integral role in maintaining accurate financial records while supporting an active commercial real estate portfolio. Your Responsibilities
- Manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties.
- Prepare property-level financial statements, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Process tenant rent billings, collections, CAM reconciliations, and operating expense reimbursements.
- Manage accounts payable, real estate taxes, utilities, and recurring vendor payments.
- Track capital expenditures, development projects, and property improvements.
- Prepare financial reporting for management and assist with budgeting, audits, and special projects.
- Research and resolve tenant billing discrepancies while maintaining accurate accounting records.
Your Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting experience with progressively increasing responsibilities.
- Commercial real estate or property accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with full-cycle accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end close.
- Knowledge of CAM reconciliations, tenant billing, lease administration, or property-level financial reporting is highly desirable.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with QuickBooks Enterprise, Bill.com, Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, Sage, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar accounting systems is beneficial.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
