Job Description
An established manufacturing company in Skokie, Illinois, is seeking an experienced Tool Room Technician – Roll Forming to support its production operations. In this role, you will maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and fabricate precision tooling used in roll forming equipment. You will work with machining equipment, engineering drawings, and precision measuring tools to ensure tooling accuracy, product quality, and production efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who enjoys hands-on problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, inspect, repair, and refurbish roll forming tooling, dies, punches, shafts, spacers, and related components to ensure reliable production.
- Perform tooling setups, alignments, adjustments, and changeovers to maintain product specifications, dimensional accuracy, and quality standards.
- Operate manual and CNC machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses, to fabricate and repair tooling components.
- Read engineering drawings and inspect tooling using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues, perform preventive maintenance, and collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a tool room, machining, or roll forming manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of roll forming tooling, dies, shafts, spacers, tooling alignment, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency with manual machining equipment, precision measuring instruments, and interpreting blueprints or engineering drawings.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation and tooling inventory management.
- Preferred: CNC machining and programming, metal forming, welding and fabrication, preventive maintenance systems, and forklift or overhead crane experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to work safely around moving machinery, noise, metal materials, machine oils, coolants, and metal shavings.
- Availability to work the assigned Monday–Friday schedule with potential overtime.
