Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to support an affordable housing portfolio within the Asset Management department. This role will be responsible for full-cycle accounting functions for multiple properties, including month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, financial statement analysis, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate will possess extensive affordable housing accounting experience, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties, Section 8 programs, government-funded housing initiatives, and multifamily property portfolios.
Responsibilities
• Manage the complete month-end close process for a portfolio of affordable housing and multifamily properties
• Prepare and review bank reconciliations, general ledger activity, balance sheets, income statements, and financial reports
• Analyze financial statements, identify errors, omissions, and inconsistencies, and drive corrective actions through resolution
• Explain financial results, variances, and trends to management and asset management teams
• Develop and maintain cash flow projections to support ongoing property operations and compliance requirements
• Support FDS audit preparation and ensure timely completion of reporting requirements
• Monitor compliance with affordable housing regulations, tax credit requirements, and government funding programs
• Maintain accurate financial records and reporting for Section 8, LIHTC, and other affordable housing portfolios

Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience within affordable housing, tax credit, or multifamily property management environments
• Extensive experience with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties and affordable housing accounting
• Strong knowledge of Section 8 housing programs, government funding sources, and regulatory compliance requirements
• Proven ability to review, analyze, and explain financial statements while identifying discrepancies and recommending corrective actions
• Experience managing accounting responsibilities for multiple properties or portfolios
• Hands-on experience with Yardi software required
• Strong understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, and cash flow forecasting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
• Extensive experience with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties and affordable housing accounting
• Strong knowledge of Section 8 housing programs, government funding sources, and regulatory compliance requirements
• Proven ability to review, analyze, and explain financial statements while identifying discrepancies and recommending corrective actions
