Job Description:
Join a growing software engineering organization as a Senior Automation Engineer, where you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of enterprise quality engineering. This is far more than a traditional automation testing position. You'll serve as a technical leader responsible for building scalable automation solutions, influencing engineering best practices, and partnering across development, QA, and product teams to improve software quality and delivery.
The ideal candidate brings a strong C# development background combined with automation expertise and enjoys solving complex engineering challenges. You'll help modernize automation platforms, improve testing strategies, mentor fellow engineers, and drive initiatives that increase engineering velocity while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance scalable automation frameworks supporting enterprise applications.
- Champion automation best practices across multiple engineering teams and influence long-term quality strategy.
- Build and maintain automated testing solutions covering UI, API, integration, and validation testing.
- Collaborate with software engineers, QA, product managers, and leadership to improve testing effectiveness and release confidence.
- Analyze application behavior, troubleshoot complex automation challenges, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery while maintaining high quality standards.
- Serve as a technical resource for automation frameworks, tooling, and engineering best practices.
- Support technology migrations, platform transitions, and automation modernization initiatives.
- Identify testing gaps, reduce manual testing efforts, and improve automation reliability and maintainability.
- Mentor peers through technical collaboration, design discussions, and sharing automation best practices.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 5+ years of automation engineering experience within enterprise software environments.
- Strong programming experience with C#, Java, or TypeScript.
- Experience developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar technologies.
- Strong API automation experience and understanding of modern testing methodologies.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong SQL and troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
- Experience collaborating closely with software development teams throughout the SDLC.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated engineer capable of influencing technical decisions while working independently and across multiple teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous software development experience with C# and .NET before transitioning into automation engineering.
- Experience building automation frameworks from the ground up.
- Experience serving as a technical SME for enterprise automation platforms.
- Experience leading automation initiatives across multiple product teams or departments.
- Experience supporting automation platform migrations or modernization efforts.
- Familiarity with Git, pull request workflows, and repository management.
- Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices.
- Experience working within highly regulated or enterprise software environments.
