Job Description
The Reserves Network is seeking a Molding Head Operator to manually make molds on a no-bake molding loop. In this role, you will prepare tooling, set molding components, select the proper sand recipe, pack and strip molds, and maintain the mixer and work area according to job instructions.
Responsibilities:
- Verify that proper tooling and markings are on the line, and apply pattern release as needed.
- Place sleeves, sprues, upsets, and chills on patterns according to job tickets.
- Select the proper sand recipe and fill mold boxes; vibrate, tuck, and pack sand as required to achieve solid molds.
- Strip molds from mold boxes at the appropriate time and clean patterns to prevent material from sticking to the tooling.
- Track the number of molds produced and clean the mold mixer after production.
- Calibrate binder and catalyst daily and replace chemical totes as needed.
- Keep the workspace free of excessive sand spillage and follow established safety procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; or 1 year of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fork truck license required.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, job tickets, and procedure manuals written in English; communicate production or quality concerns.
- Follow written, oral, or diagram instructions and resolve routine production problems.
- Add and subtract whole numbers using various units of measure.
- Stand throughout the shift; frequently walk, bend, twist, reach forward, push or pull, and lift or carry 1–25 pounds. Occasionally lift or carry 26–50 pounds or more than 50 pounds, squat, kneel, climb, balance, and reach overhead.
- Use both hands and demonstrate good hand-eye coordination; vision requirements include at least 20/40 vision in one eye and corrected near vision.
- Work in a dusty foundry environment with high noise levels, variable temperatures, some uneven floors, and exposure to moving equipment and airborne particles.
- Follow safety procedures when using mold binders, hardeners, and pattern release; wear safety glasses, hearing protection, safety-toe boots with instep guards, and gloves.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
