Grants Accountant | $30/Hour | 6-8 Week Contract | Omaha, NE | Onsite
A respected, community-focused organization in the Omaha Metro Area is seeking an experienced Accountant to support financial reporting, compliance, and accounting activities for a diverse portfolio of grant-funded programs. This opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys analytical work, problem-solving, and collaborating across multiple departments while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. Help the finance team fill an upcoming gap as a current team member goes out on FMLA.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain grant-related financial reports and documentation
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor grant budgets and spending activity
- Review and process budget revisions and funding transfer requests
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports
- Analyze financial activity and recommend corrective actions when necessary
- Collaborate with program managers and internal stakeholders regarding grant compliance and reporting
- Maintain accurate accounting records within financial systems
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and spending projections
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles
- Experience with account reconciliations and financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience with grant accounting, fund accounting, nonprofit, governmental, or higher education accounting preferred
- ERP or financial system experience preferred
