A growing, well-established manufacturing organization in the Des Moines metro is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead its accounting and finance function. This highly visible leadership role partners directly with executive leadership and oversees all accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, and a small accounting team. The position offers a unique opportunity to step into a well-supported succession plan with direct training from an experienced finance leader before assuming full responsibility for the department.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all month-end and year-end close activities and prepare accurate GAAP financial statements
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and financial reporting
- Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and business performance analysis
- Manage annual external audits and maintain strong internal controls
- Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, and operational performance to support business decisions
- Supervise and develop a small accounting team while driving process improvements and operational efficiencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Manufacturing accounting and cost accounting experience strongly preferred
- Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, month-end close, and internal controls
- Experience leading accounting teams and partnering with executive leadership
- ERP experience required; manufacturing ERP systems are a plus
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong analytical and communication abilities
