Job Description
An established industrial manufacturing operation is seeking a Welder Helper / Welding Trainee to support skilled welders and other trades professionals in a fast-paced production environment. In this hands-on role, you will assist with material preparation, cutting, grinding, fitting, equipment setup, and basic welding-related tasks while learning valuable fabrication skills. You will work alongside experienced team members while developing your knowledge of welding processes, tools, safety standards, and quality requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to build a career in welding and industrial fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Assist welders and other skilled trades employees with cutting, grinding, fitting, positioning, and preparing metal components for fabrication
- Prepare welding materials and work surfaces by cleaning, measuring, cutting, and positioning parts
- Set up and safely operate power tools, welding-related equipment, and material-handling equipment as directed
- Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks under the guidance of experienced welders while developing skills in different welding positions
- Handle and transport materials, tools, equipment, and supplies throughout the work area
- Read tape measurements accurately and assist with interpreting drawings, work orders, and fabrication specifications
- Inspect materials and completed work for quality and notify team members of potential issues
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to support safe and efficient production
- Follow all company safety procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements
Requiremants :
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and take basic shop measurements
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and basic weld symbols
- Basic welding experience required, including the ability to set up and run a consistent weld bead
- Formal welding certification is not required, but candidates should have hands-on welding experience or recent welding training
- Understanding of basic fabrication, fit-up, and material preparation
- Ability to follow work instructions, blueprints, and production specifications with strong attention to detail
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, and other industrial equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively in English or Spanish
- Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a production team
- Previous experience or training in welding, metal fabrication, construction, manufacturing, or another skilled trade
- Willingness and ability to continue developing welding skills with the potential to advance into a Welder position
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to work in varying hot and cold conditions and in an industrial environment where noise levels may reach or exceed 90 decibels
- Ability to work 2nd shift, 4:00 PM–2:30 AM
- Ability to work overtime as needed
