Job Description
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk supports the daily shipping, receiving, mail, and distribution operations for a large Houston organization. This position processes incoming and outgoing shipments, maintains accurate records, and ensures materials are delivered efficiently to the appropriate departments. The role also assists with inventory movement, shipping supplies, and event-related logistics while providing dependable service to internal departments. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, packages, freight, and other shipments accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare, package, inspect, and document shipments while selecting appropriate shipping methods and carriers.
- Receive, unpack, inspect, and document incoming shipments and resolve shortages or damages as needed.
- Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, purchase order, packing slip, and inventory records.
- Deliver packages, supplies, and materials throughout the facility and assist with event and tour logistics.
- Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, mailroom, inventory, or related experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Forklift certification and experience operating material-handling equipment preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn shipping, tracking, and inventory systems.
- Familiarity with UPS WorldShip, USPS shipping systems, or similar platforms preferred.

The base pay range for this position is $39,520–$41,600 annually, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
