Job Description
A residential apartment community is seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Technician to provide day-to-day leadership and hands-on maintenance support. The ideal candidate will have strong multifamily maintenance experience, technical expertise across multiple trades, and preferably previous leadership experience. This role works closely with the Service Director, who retains overall responsibility for property maintenance operations.
Responsibilities
- Direct and support maintenance technicians to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install HVAC systems, including work beyond routine servicing.
- Perform electrical, plumbing, residential appliance, and general property maintenance repairs and installations.
- Assist the Service Director with special projects, maintenance priorities, and operational needs.
- Communicate maintenance concerns and follow property safety procedures and standards.
- Provide secondary weekend on-call support (Saturday and Sunday) when needed. The scheduled maintenance technician remains the primary contact. If they do not answer after two call attempts, emergency calls may route to the Lead Technician. Backup support may include technical guidance or hands-on assistance during urgent situations, such as flooding or other emergencies. Lead involvement is expected to be infrequent.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Multifamily or apartment maintenance experience preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong hands-on HVAC troubleshooting, repair, and full-system installation experience.
- Proficiency in electrical, plumbing, appliance repair, and general maintenance.
- Ability to lead and support a team while working collaboratively with the Service Director.
- Strong communication, initiative, dependability, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform hands-on maintenance duties and assist with special projects.
- Relevant technical certifications or licenses may be beneficial.
