Job Description:
Take ownership of mechanical CAD and product data for an established manufacturing operation that is actively improving and modernizing its engineering systems. As a SolidWorks Drafter, you will work extensively in SolidWorks to develop and maintain detailed mechanical designs, drawings, assemblies, and configurable product families. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys taking existing products and legacy engineering information and turning it into accurate, scalable, production-ready design documentation.
You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Product Management while helping ensure CAD, PDM, ERP, BOM, and configuration data remain consistent throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed SolidWorks parts, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, configurations, and design tables.
- Rebuild and modernize legacy engineering drawings and product information into accurate, production-ready CAD packages.
- Create configurable product families and reusable design structures that support multiple product variations.
- Maintain drawings, Bills of Material, item information, product structures, and related manufacturing documentation.
- Support engineering changes while keeping SolidWorks, PDM, ERP, and downstream product information synchronized.
- Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve product data accuracy, standardization, manufacturability, and long-term maintainability.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of mechanical design, CAD, drafting, or product engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced SolidWorks experience, including complex assemblies, drawings, configurations, design tables, and BOM management.
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, GD&T, drafting standards, and production documentation.
- Experience designing components for manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, molding, casting, stamping, or assembly.
- Hands-on experience working with PDM systems, engineering change processes, and structured product data.
