Job Description
The Assistant Maintenance Manager supports the Maintenance Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance department while providing leadership to maintenance technicians and shop personnel. This role is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities, managing preventive maintenance programs, purchasing parts and supplies, overseeing inventory and salvage assets, and ensuring equipment reliability across multiple operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, extensive maintenance experience, and a proactive approach to improving equipment uptime, safety, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities, preventive maintenance schedules, and work order assignments using CMMS software
- Supervise, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians while promoting a strong culture of safety and accountability
- Manage maintenance purchasing, inventory levels, vendor relationships, and warranty claims to support efficient operations
- Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot recurring issues, and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce downtime
- Assist with budgeting, capital planning, asset management, and departmental performance initiatives
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Maintenance, Diesel Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred
- 5–7 years of maintenance experience in agriculture, feedlot, farming, heavy equipment, trucking, or industrial environments
- 2–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, welding, fabrication, and heavy equipment maintenance
- Experience with CMMS software, inventory management, purchasing, budgeting, and vendor relations
- Valid driver's license required

The base salary range for this position is $65,000-85,000 excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
