Job Description:
Join an established organization that is investing heavily in modernizing its core business applications through a multi-year digital transformation. As a Senior Java Developer, you'll leverage your expertise in Java, object-oriented programming, and enterprise application development to build and enhance mission-critical software solutions. This role is ideal for a senior developer who enjoys remaining hands-on while mentoring others and contributing to architectural decisions. Prior Guidewire experience is not required—the team is looking for experienced Java developers who are excited to learn Guidewire Gosu and grow into a specialized enterprise platform.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance enterprise software solutions using Java and object-oriented programming principles.
- Learn and develop applications within the Guidewire platform using Gosu.
- Participate in solution architecture and technical design discussions for enterprise initiatives.
- Develop integrations, APIs, business rules, and workflows supporting mission-critical applications.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA Engineers, and fellow developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Mentor developers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
- Troubleshoot complex application issues and recommend scalable, long-term solutions.
- Promote software engineering best practices including clean code, secure development, and performance optimization.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives supporting the organization's technology modernization efforts.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of hands-on Java software development experience.
- Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, software design patterns, and enterprise application architecture.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and enterprise integrations.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience with cloud-based application development.
- Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies.
- Experience mentoring developers or serving as a technical lead on development projects.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Desire to learn Guidewire Gosu and build expertise within the Guidewire platform.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 – $140,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
