Job Description:
A growing infrastructure-focused organization is seeking a Survey Supervisor to oversee field survey operations while remaining actively involved in project execution. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical work in the field. The Survey Supervisor will coordinate survey activities for active construction projects, support field personnel, and ensure all layout and measurement activities are completed accurately and efficiently. The position requires a strong operational mindset, the ability to solve problems in real time, and the confidence to lead crews in dynamic jobsite environments. This individual will spend the majority of their time supporting field operations while also managing planning, scheduling, and team coordination responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support daily survey operations across active infrastructure and construction projects while maintaining accuracy, safety, and production expectations
- Coordinate field crews, assign responsibilities, and provide technical guidance to ensure projects remain on schedule and aligned with project specifications
- Perform hands-on surveying activities including layout verification, equipment operation, field measurements, and troubleshooting of site-related issues
- Review project drawings, specifications, and control data to ensure field activities are executed correctly and efficiently
- Collaborate with project management and operations teams to improve workflows, communication, and field execution strategies
- Maintain survey equipment, monitor operational needs in the field, and assist with planning resources for upcoming project activities
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Prior experience supporting heavy civil, transportation, bridge, or infrastructure-related construction projects required
- Strong understanding of construction surveying principles, field layout processes, and geometry control methodologies
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, and technical project documents
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate crews, coordinate field activities, and operate independently with minimal oversight
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced field environments
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills along with solid computer proficiency
