Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Solution Architect to lead modernization and transformation initiatives for enterprise-level applications and infrastructure. This role is central to defining modernization strategy, evaluating current environments, and guiding the transition to hybrid multi-cloud architecture. The architect will partner closely with leadership, technology teams, and stakeholders to ensure secure, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of IT services aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
We are seeking a highly experienced Solution Architect to lead modernization and transformation initiatives for enterprise-level applications and infrastructure. This role is central to defining modernization strategy, evaluating current environments, and guiding the transition to hybrid multi-cloud architecture. The architect will partner closely with leadership, technology teams, and stakeholders to ensure secure, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of IT services aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Design and guide modernization strategies using best practice models (e.g., 6 R’s: Rehost, Re-platform, Retire, etc.), and drive architectural decisions across application, infrastructure, and delivery layers.
- Conduct landscape assessments to document current-state infrastructure and applications; evaluate change readiness and in-flight efforts.
- Develop comprehensive roadmaps and strategies for modernization, prioritizing short- and long-term initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide subject matter expertise in hybrid/multi-cloud models (Azure/AWS), including disaster recovery planning, backup solutions, and cloud-native services.
- Act as a trusted advisor to IT leadership, fostering collaboration across stakeholders, facilitating governance processes, and supporting compliance with internal and external standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- PMP certification and formal architecture training (required).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in leading large-scale technology modernization or transformation initiatives.
- At least 10 years of IT or infrastructure architecture and project management experience, with strong background in disaster recovery and hybrid cloud environments.
- Proven track record working in the public sector, preferably within state or local government environments.
- Strong communication, leadership, and negotiation skills; ability to influence stakeholders and deliver in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL and enterprise IT governance frameworks.

The Pay Rate range for this position is $75 – $79 per hour, excluding benefits. Your final Pay Rate will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note that hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
