Summary Job Description
Large dredging company is looking for A Senior Surveyor. As a Hydrographic Sr. Surveyor, for our Offshore Energy Division, you will lead a team of surveyors conducting detailed surveys of underwater environments.
Responsibilities:
- Your primary goal is to ensure the accurate collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to the physical features of bodies of water to support safe navigation, marine construction, and environmental protection.
- Conduct pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives
- Provide technical advice on hydrographic matters to clients and stakeholders
- Plan survey operations to take account of vessel(s) operational and environmental capabilities and limitations
- Utilize specialized equipment such as multi-beam echo sounders and GPS systems to collect accurate data
- Supervise survey operations always ensuring safe working practices and with due regard to contract requirements, scope of work, procedures, and regulations
- Effectively communicate with Vessel Management Team, Bridge Team, and client representatives offshore
- Compile operational/field reporting in a concise manner and in accordance with project procedures, client specifications and company procedures
- Maintain efficient stock control
- Effectively address vessel operation and management issues
- Implement and develop company emergency procedures.
- Implement hazard identification and risk assessment control measures.
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred
- Relevant industry experience or military/academic experience in survey related discipline, including relevant management experience
- Must be able to work 12hr shift/4 week rotation/100% travel
- Satisfactory completion of competence criteria for Senior Surveyor, Senior Survey Engineer, Senior Geophysicist or Senior Data Processor
- Proficiency in using hydrographic surveying equipment and software (e.g., Quinsy, Qimera, sonar, MBES, GPS, GIS)
- Nominally 48 months experience, including 300 operational days offshore as Senior Surveyor, Senior Survey Engineer, Senior Geophysicist or Senior Data Processor
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is essential
- Must have or be able to obtain all industry required certificates to work offshore (OGUK Physical, BOSIET (or BST) offshore medical and survival training. Will be reimbursed by client
- Must be able to obtain a valid passport and/or visas to travel internationally in countries the company operates in.
- Ability to work after hours/weekend (on-call) schedule
- Needs to be able to work on an offshore construction vessel

The base pay range for this position is $85,000 – $105, 000K, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
