Job Description
As a Retirement Plan Administrator / Accountant, you will manage a portfolio of retirement plans, serving as the primary point of contact for clients while ensuring plans remain compliant with IRS and Department of Labor regulations. You'll analyze payroll data, perform detailed reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, prepare annual compliance reporting, and guide clients through retirement plan administration. This role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining outstanding client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned portfolio of retirement plan clients and serve as their primary contact
- Analyze payroll and retirement plan data to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Perform detailed reconciliations between payroll records and retirement account activity
- Prepare annual compliance testing, reporting, and required regulatory filings
- Research plan provisions and administrative questions to ensure regulatory compliance
- Communicate professionally with clients, advisors, and internal team members
- Monitor multiple client deadlines while independently prioritizing workload
- Recommend process improvements and contribute to operational efficiencies
- Maintain accurate documentation and provide exceptional client service throughout the annual plan cycle
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Mathematics, or a related field
- 1+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, audit, or reconciliation experience preferred
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Retirement plan or defined contribution experience is a plus but not required
