Job Description
A well-established precision manufacturing employer is seeking an Optical Technician to support slab fabrication operations. This role involves blocking, de-blocking, grinding, polishing, inspection, and packaging of precision optical products. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, good manual dexterity, and the ability to follow technical work instructions and engineering blueprints. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed production work in a clean, organized manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Fabricate precision optical materials according to specifications
- Perform blocking, de-blocking, beveling, grinding, polishing, inspection, and final packaging of finished products
- Operate metrology equipment and interpret polishing and measurement-related information
- Follow technical work instructions and understand engineering blueprints
- Maintain tooling, perform preventive maintenance on area equipment, and keep the work area clean and organized
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Basic understanding of metrology required, with the ability to learn advanced techniques
- Previous polishing experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required
- Good visual acuity and strong attention to detail required
- Ability to work with small parts and handle laser rods, slabs, and other precision optics/parts
- Manual dexterity required
- Ability to follow housekeeping and safety procedures
- Must be comfortable working around materials such as acetone, alcohol, and safety strip as part of normal job duties

The base pay range for this position is $18.00+ per hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
