Job Description
Looking for an experienced Lead Mechanic with strong manufacturing maintenance experience to support daily maintenance operations, provide technical leadership, and ensure equipment reliability.
Responsibilities:
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery
• Lead by example in following all safety procedures and maintenance best practices
• Serve as the technical expert for diagnosing complex mechanical issues and recommending corrective actions
• Coordinate and prioritize daily work orders with the maintenance team to ensure efficient task completion
• Assist in planning and executing preventive and predictive maintenance schedules
• Support the documentation and continuous improvement of maintenance procedures
• Mentor and train new mechanics on proper repair techniques and equipment care
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and parts usage in the CMMS
• Assist in the development of and ensure compliance with lockout/tagout protocols and company policies
• Support management with root cause analysis of equipment failures and contribute to corrective action plans
• Collaborate with production teams to support machine setup, changeovers, and equipment optimization
• Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and increase equipment reliability
• Interface with production teams, vendors, and contractors regarding parts, repairs, and specialized services as needed

Qualifications and Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED required
• Two years of college or equivalent work experience preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
• Experience with CMMS software and maintenance tracking systems
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and sense of urgency
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Forklift certification required
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License required
• Ability to work from ladders and scaffolds up to 30 feet high
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking for extended periods
• Ability to work in varying temperature conditions and safely use hand and power tools

The base salary range for this position is $32-$34 per hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
