Job Description
Our client is looking to hire a Facility Maintenance Engineer who is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all building systems at all client locations in Houston, Texas (Spring Branch area). This position requires strong technical expertise in at least one core trade (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing/Piping, or Central Plant Operations) while maintaining working knowledge across all major building systems
Responsibilities:
- Performs assigned repairs; building upkeep duties as needed (periodic pressure washing and leaf blowing as needed); emergency and preventive maintenance in a timely manner. Completes maintenance and repair records as required. Completes assigned work orders in a timely manner.
- Use company computers and personal smart phone for work order system and email.
- Takes ownership of work, is flexible, and focuses on creating a positive and welcoming impression.
- Must be self-sufficient, team player. Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders.
- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and life-safety systems.
- Monitor central plant equipment including chilled water systems, pumps, cooling towers, and controls.
- Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Respond to building emergencies including fire alarms, water leaks, and power interruptions.
- Escort and monitor vendors and contractors to ensure quality and safety compliance.
- Respond to tenant service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- This position supports multiple operational facilities. Some overtime may be required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of Five (5) years' experience in facilities maintenance with thorough understanding of Building Automation Systems, electrical systems, controls, condensing boilers, package rooftop HVAC, variable air volume systems, chemical treatment, emergency generation equipment, plumbing, transfer switches and life safety systems.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) check, and credit check.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–5 years commercial building operations experience preferred.
- Experience in office, warehouse, and mission-critical facilities preferred.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
- EPA Universal Certification preferred.
- SMT, SMA, BOMI, or equivalent certifications preferred.
- OSHA training is preferred.
