We are seeking an experienced Tool Room Machinist to support tooling, fixture, die, and production needs for a precision manufacturing operation in Mentor. This opportunity is ideal for a versatile machinist who is comfortable with manual machining equipment and can independently manufacture, modify, and repair tooling and fixtures to print.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture, modify, and repair tooling, fixtures, and dies
- Set up and operate engine lathes, mills, grinders, and other machine shop equipment
- Support tooling and fixture needs for production, engineering, maintenance, and machining departments
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications
- Select proper tooling, speeds, and feeds based on material and application
- Machine components to specified dimensions and tolerances
- Inspect completed work using precision measuring equipment
- Troubleshoot tooling and machining issues
- Maintain organized and accurate work areas and documentation
- Follow established safety and quality procedures
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous tool room, tool and die, or general machining experience required
- Strong manual machining skills
- Experience with engine lathes, mills, and grinders
- Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances
- Knowledge of tooling, materials, speeds, and feeds
- Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and other inspection tools
- Ability to independently plan and complete machining work
- Reliable attendance and availability for first or second shift
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings
