Job Description
The Budget Analyst develops, monitors, and analyzes budgets to ensure the organization's financial resources are used effectively. This role prepares financial reports, forecasts revenues and expenditures, reviews budget variances, and maintains accurate financial records. The analyst also supports program managers, ensures compliance with procedures and regulations, and provides recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze agency budgeting and accounting reports and requests, review policy and budget initiatives, examine budget estimates for completeness and accuracy, and recommend actions that maintain expenditure controls and compliance with procedures and regulations.
- Consult with program managers on budget adjustments related to program changes; assess financial data to identify program resource needs and trends; and prepare statistical analyses, projections, cost estimates, plans, and budget amendments.
- Maintain detailed, organized financial records through timely journal creation and posting; request budgetary codes; track physical inventory and expenses; and document the use of funds and adherence to budget allocations.
- Monitor budgets to identify variances, surpluses, deficits, and solutions, and prepare required department, state, federal, and management reports and summaries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable monthly; review purchase orders for compliance with contract terms, budgets, and operational requirements; and request payments for federally funded programs.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Associate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or public administration from an accredited college or university OR two years of job-related fiscal analysis experience.
- Preferred: Two years of advanced knowledge and experience using accounting software.
- Preferred: Two years of experience using Microsoft Suite.

The pay rate for this position is $24.00 per hour, excluding benefits, potential bonuses, or other compensation. Final compensation will depend on individual skills, qualifications, experience, geographic location, and internal pay equity.
