Job Description
As a Public Housing Assistant, you will support the administration of public housing programs by assisting applicants and tenants through the eligibility and leasing process. Daily tasks include reviewing applications, verifying information, scheduling inspections, and maintaining tenant records. You will work closely with applicants, tenants, and landlords to ensure compliance with housing guidelines and procedures. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and customer service skills.

· Receive and review housing applications for completeness and accuracy
· Screen and interview applicants to determine program eligibility
· Explain housing program guidelines, procedures, and requirements
· Verify applicant and tenant information
· Conduct annual and interim tenant file reviews
· Calculate tenant rent portions and notify tenants and landlords
· Schedule housing inspections and recertifications
· Maintain organized and accurate records and documentation

· High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred
· Minimum of one (1) month of experience or training in housing management or related field preferred
· Experience working with elderly, physically challenged, or economically disadvantaged populations a plus
· Strong organizational and administrative skills
· Attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping
· Effective communication and customer service skills

The pay range for this position is $34,611–$35,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for growth.
