Head of Treasury | Direct Hire | Des Moines, IA | Onsite | $95,000–$110,000
Job Description
A well-established organization in the Des Moines metro is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented professional to lead internal treasury operations and oversee a multi million + investment portfolio.
This high-visibility leadership role partners closely with executive finance leadership and plays a critical role in safeguarding institutional assets, optimizing liquidity, and ensuring compliance with investment policies. The role will lead a small team while driving process improvement and financial stewardship.
What You Will Be Doing
Supervis and develop a small, high performing team
Maintain relationships with external investment advisors, custodians, and banking partners
Monitor compliance with investment and spending policies
Manage unitization and calculate annual distributions
Oversee accounting and reconciliation of gifts, pledges, and donation funds
Lead cash management including cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
Strengthen internal controls and fraud prevention measures
Support capital project funding approvals and reporting
Prepare reconciliations, journal entries, audit workpapers, and executive reporting
Contribute to ERP optimization and financial system improvements
What They’re Looking For
3–5+ years of relevant accounting, treasury, or investment experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Strong understanding of investment accounting and cash management
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong systems proficiency
Strong ERP experience preferred
Non-profit, education, or fund raising experience preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail with leadership capability
Collaborative, service-oriented communication style
