Job Description
The Valve Technician I is responsible for inspecting, repairing, testing, and maintaining industrial valves to ensure safe and reliable operation. This role supports facilities such as refineries, chemical plants, power plants, and manufacturing sites. The technician will work hands-on with various valve types, perform repairs and testing, and document all work completed. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to grow a career in industrial maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, disassemble, repair, and reassemble industrial valves
- Replace seals, seats, gaskets, packing, and other internal valve components
- Perform valve testing and calibration using hydraulic or pneumatic test equipment
- Identify wear, corrosion, leaks, or mechanical deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, test results, and certifications
Qualifications and Requirements
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial valve components
- Ability to use precision tools such as torque wrenches, calipers, and micrometers
- Familiarity with hydrostatic and pneumatic testing equipment
- Ability to read technical drawings, valve datasheets, and manuals
- High attention to detail and strong documentation skills
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical or vocational training in mechanical or industrial maintenance preferred
- 0–1 year of experience working with industrial valves in a plant or shop environment
