Job Description:
A leading Organ and Tissue Bank in the Norcross area is seeking a dedicated Surgical Coordinator I. The Surgical Coordinator I is responsible for ensuring that donated organs and tissues are recovered in a manner that maximizes their potential for transplantation, therapy, research, or education
A leading Organ and Tissue Bank in the Norcross area is seeking a dedicated Surgical Coordinator I. The Surgical Coordinator I is responsible for ensuring that donated organs and tissues are recovered in a manner that maximizes their potential for transplantation, therapy, research, or education
Responsibilities:
- Provide assigned on-call coverage for deceased donor procurement, organ preservation, and related activities.
- Demonstrate proficiency in sterile technique, universal precautions, infection control, and proper use of surgical instruments and supplies.
- Prepare, brief, and assist OR staff throughout the organ and tissue recovery process to ensure a coordinated and informed surgical workflow.
- Set up, maintain, and turn over the OR before, during, and after recovery procedures, including post-mortem care.
- Maintain appropriate conditions for flush solutions, additives, and preservation media during recovery.
- Recognize and respond to intraoperative complications.
- Serve as surgical first assist during donor recovery procedures, supporting the lead surgeon in sterile and non-sterile tasks as needed.
- Ensure organs, tissues, and specimens are properly packaged and labeled in compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining chain of custody and supporting safe transport.
- Operate, monitor, and adjust machine perfusion systems to optimize preservation and assess organ viability.
- Facilitate real-time communication with hospital, transplant, and medical examiner personnel throughout the recovery and allocation process.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Certified Transplant Preservationist (CTP), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), or Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS).
- Advanced technical, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills required, both at the start of a shift and after 20–40 hours without sleep.
- Current valid state driver license with a good driving record.
- Travel by automobile and air, as required, to fulfill job duties for assigned cases.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we want to share the base hourly pay rate for this position is $55,000 – $69,000 salary, not including benefits, potential bonuses or additional compensation. If you are hired, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition, we also believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future & continued salary growth.
