Temporary Staff Accountant | 6-Month Contract | $30–$40/hr | Elyria, OH | On-Site
A well-established, full service restoration & construction company is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to provide immediate, on-site accounting support during a critical transition period. This role is essential to stabilizing daily accounting operations, addressing backlog items, and supporting leadership alongside an external CPA firm. There is strong potential for full-time hire for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger using QuickBooks and/or PSA software
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Prepare and process invoicing and collections, including property liens when required
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
- Track job costs and support accurate Work in Progress (WIP) reporting
- Partner with project managers and estimators to ensure financial alignment across active jobs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers, estimators, superintendents, payroll/HR, ownership, and the CEO
- Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis to leadership
- Participate in the implementation and transition to a new in house software
- Support occasional after-hours work during surge events related to weather-driven restoration demand
Required Background
- Experience working with QuickBooks or PSA software
- Solid bookkeeping to controller-level accounting skillset
- Experience with job costing and Work in Progress (WIP) reporting
- Ability to independently manage AP, AR, invoicing, and collections
- Comfortable working on-site daily in a hands-on, collaborative environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction, restoration, or job-cost accounting environments
- Exposure to accounting system implementations or software transitions
- Ability to step into a transitional environment and add value quickly
