Job Description:
A manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior CAD/PDM Specialist to support a strategic growth initiative focused on modernizing its CAD and product data management environment. This role will play a critical part in standing up a new SolidWorks PDM vault in parallel with an existing system, developing new workflows, and helping define future-state CAD and data governance practices.
The ideal candidate is technology-forward and PDM-focused, someone who enjoys exploring system capabilities, testing new approaches, and building scalable processes rather than simply maintaining legacy setups.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design, configuration, and launch of a new SolidWorks PDM vault, operating alongside the existing legacy system
- Develop and refine CAD/PDM workflows, permissions, and processes in collaboration with the CAD Manager
- Produce and modify 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to support sustaining engineering and new initiatives
- Ensure revision control, data integrity, and BOM accuracy across CAD, PDM, and ERP systems
- Serve as a technical resource for PDM troubleshooting, best practices, and continuous improvement
- Assist with documentation, standards development, and user support as the new system matures
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical drafting and CAD design within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks, with demonstrated exposure to SolidWorks PDM (vaults, workflows, configurations, user access)
- Proven interest in PDM systems, workflow optimization, and process development
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, molding, or electromechanical assembly
- Experience supporting engineering change processes, BOM management, and documentation control
- Curious, self-directed mindset with the ability to learn through testing, iteration, and collaboration.
Benefits and Perks:
- Competitive hourly compensation up to $35/hr
- Long-term, project-based contract with meaningful technical impact
- Opportunity to influence the organization’s future-state CAD/PDM infrastructure
- Collaborative environment with deep institutional knowledge and support
