A locally owned and steadily growing construction management company is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support project-level and corporate financial operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys working closely with project teams, ensuring financial accuracy, and maintaining strong communication between the field and the office.
You’ll play a key role in billing, job costing, and financial reporting, supporting both project managers and company leadership in maintaining efficient and compliant accounting practices.
Responsibilities
• Manage project accounting functions, including job costing, billings, and AP/AR processing
• Prepare and issue monthly project reports, reconciliations, and forecasts
• Review contracts, change orders, and project documentation to ensure compliance with company and client requirements
• Assist with financial statement preparation, audits, and support schedules
• Monitor and report on budget variances, profitability, and cost performance
• Maintain electronic filing systems and ensure accuracy in all accounting transactions
• Collaborate with project managers, field staff, and leadership to resolve billing or cost discrepancies
• Support compliance activities, including insurance, licensing, and government reporting
• Assist with risk management tasks, such as insurance renewals and project documentation

Qualifications and Requirements
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a construction or project-based environment
• Solid understanding of job cost accounting, GAAP principles, and billing procedures
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting software
• Valid driver’s license and ability to visit project sites as needed
• 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a construction or project-based environment
