Job Description:
Provide compassionate support services to adults with learning disabilities while promoting independence, self-awareness, and personal growth. Support residents with daily living activities in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment that values each patient’s needs.
Responsibilities (Required on All Shifts):
- Assist residents with goals identified in their treatment plans.
- Document residents’ progress hourly in progress notes during working hours only; all notes must be signed and dated before leaving the shift. No overtime.
- Perform assigned job duties in a way that maintains a safe, clean, and supportive environment for residents.
- Dispose of dirty diapers properly: place in a small plastic bag, tie securely, and place in the outside garbage can.
1st Shift Duties:
- Serve breakfast.
- Assist with and supervise residents’ morning hygiene, including showers and dressing.
- Ensure residents’ rooms are cleaned and vacuumed.
- Clean the kitchen area, including stove eyes after cooking and the stove/microwave if used.
- Clean the master bathroom and hall bathroom.
- Prepare lunch and dinner.
- Create the weekly menu.
- Shop for groceries and household items.
- Complete full-house cleaning, including all rooms and bathrooms.
- Transport residents to day programs and pick them up, when assigned. Staff must be licensed and insured to drive residents.
- Take residents to doctor appointments, when needed.
- Pick up prescriptions.
- Put folded laundry away in each resident’s room in the appropriate place.
- Ensure residents’ clothing in closets and drawers is neat and organized.
- Serve snack when residents return from day program.
- Monitor medications and sign the medication log.
2nd Shift Duties:
- Wash and dry residents’ clothing.
- Assist residents with dinner setup, including setting the table.
- Prepare warm evening meals.
- Serve dinner.
- Assist residents with daily living skills such as:
- setting and clearing the table
- washing dishes
- putting utensils and kitchen items away properly.
- Serve snacks as scheduled.
- Monitor medications and sign the medication log.
- Provide and supervise resident activities such as games, TV, computer time, basketball, etc.
- Turn TVs off at 10:00 PM.
- Assist residents with showers and bedtime preparation.
- Place each resident’s dirty clothes basket by their bedroom door before bedtime.
- Monitor residents after they are in bed.
3rd Shift Duties:
- Wash, dry, fold, and iron residents’ clothing; put clothing away in closets and drawers.
- Monitor residents hourly and document observations in progress notes.
- Assist residents with restroom needs during the night.
- Change bedding and clothing if soiled.
- Clean any area where a resident has soiled or had an accident.
- Mop the kitchen, family room, foyer, and hall bathroom.
- Clean the hall bathroom bathtub, toilet, and sink.
- Vacuum the hall, living room, and dining room.
- Clean and organize the refrigerator.
- Organize food in cabinets.
- Clean the stove, including stove eyes and oven, and wipe kitchen counters.
- Clean all garbage cans.
- Dust and clean electronic equipment.
- Turn TV off at 10:00 PM.
- Keep lights on only in areas where staff is working.
- Call the DDP or Owner if a problem arises.
- Turn off outside lights before leaving in the morning.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 6-months of experience providing social or direct care services to groups of special needs individuals in a human service setting
- Copy of CNA certificate, if applicable
- Copy of current TB test
- Copy of current physical exam, signed by a medical doctor
- Copy of diploma, GED, or degree
- Copy of valid driver’s license
- Copy of Social Security card
- Copy of current motor vehicle liability insurance
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Current Fire Safety certification

The pay range for this position is $13/hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
