Job Description
We are seeking a Network Operations Manager who is equally strong in leadership and hands-on technical expertise. In this role, you will lead our network operations team while also actively contributing to the design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our enterprise-wide data, voice, wireless, and security systems.
The ideal candidate can guide staff, manage vendors, and drive strategy—while also rolling up their sleeves to solve complex technical problems, implement upgrades, and ensure reliable, secure network performance. This is a balanced role requiring both strategic oversight and deep technical involvement to support the organization’s evolving infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise network operations staff—including hiring, training, scheduling, mentoring, and performance management—while actively participating in day-to-day technical work.
- Oversee and personally contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, wireless, and network security systems.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve network policies, procedures, standards, and documentation while ensuring adherence through both leadership oversight and hands-on validation.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers, negotiate contracts, and ensure service levels meet organizational needs, including direct technical evaluation of products and services.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance metrics; prepare operational reports and provide strategic and technical recommendations for improvement.
- Manage budgets, forecast resource and technology needs, and control expenditures for the network operations function.
- Direct and support multiple projects, contributing as both a project leader and an active technical resource to ensure successful, on-time delivery.
- Implement and maintain best practices in network security, risk management, resilience, and disaster recovery; participate directly in incident response and remediation when needed.
- Provide advanced technical guidance in network architecture, capacity planning, system upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
- Foster a strong customer-service culture while ensuring the team delivers high-quality, timely support.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field—or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
- 5+ years of experience managing mid-to-large-scale enterprise networks, including operational oversight, strategic planning, and direct technical involvement.
- 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role, with demonstrated ability to manage teams while also performing hands-on network engineering tasks.
- Strong technical expertise in LAN/WAN administration, routing and switching, wireless technologies, enterprise networking, and network security principles.
- Demonstrated experience managing IT budgets, vendor relationships, and technical procurement.
- Proven problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and effective leadership style balancing accountability with team development.
- Up-to-date knowledge of modern IT trends, security practices, cloud networking concepts, and industry best practices.
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or similar) preferred; advanced certifications or demonstrated equivalent technical proficiency are a plus.

The Pay Rate range for this position is $55.00 – $69.00/hour for contract or $105,000 – $132,000/year for direct hire, excluding benefits. Your final Pay Rate will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
