Job Description:
This Medical Assistant role supports patient care services in a public health clinic setting. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting with health screenings, performing phlebotomy, collecting specimens, recording patient histories, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to patient-centered care.

The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting with health screenings, performing phlebotomy, collecting specimens, recording patient histories, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
- Perform phlebotomy (capillary and venous draws), urine collection, pregnancy tests, lead testing, vital signs, and patient histories
- Prepare and label samples (stool, blood, sputum, etc.) for transport to laboratories
- Provide in-room support for clinical staff during patient visits
- Maintain exam rooms and laboratories according to infection control standards; monitor inventory
- Perform data entry and documentation in EMR and Microsoft Excel
- Stock and rotate supplies; conduct quality checks on medical equipment
- Make occasional home visits to retrieve records, obtain consents, or collect specimens
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program from a community college or technical school
- At least six (6) months of healthcare experience
- Phlebotomy experience required
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Current American Heart Association CPR certification
