Machine Operator I | 1st Shift (6:00am – 4:30pm) Monday – Thursday | Pay: $18.00 hour
Summary / General Description:
The Machine Operator is responsible for performing a variety of tasks using metal fabrication equipment, with a primary focus on operating waterjet machinery. This role ensures parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
- Obtain parts for orders per BOM and drawings
- Use waterjet software to create or modify 2D drawings on a computer
- Assemble or fabricate orders per drawings using correct parts, tools, and specifications
- Set up and operate various fabrication equipment including presses, sanders, saws, and other machinery
- Set up, program, and operate CNC laser cutting machines while maintaining safety and performance standards
- Maintain a high level of quality and efficiency in all tasks
- Perform in-process quality checks and audit own work per standard work and quality instructions
- Ensure all work meets required specifications and tolerances
- Collaborate with team members to maintain workflow and productivity
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Work overtime as needed
Qualifications:
- Fabrication machine experience preferred
- CNC programming experience preferred (ability to write, read, and edit programs)
- Salvagnini laser experience preferred
- Experience with machinery such as milling machines (Bridgeport), waterjets, band/horizontal saws, brake presses, and drill presses desired
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
- Familiarity with measuring instruments and inspection tools
- Strong math and geometry skills required
- Proficient with hand, electric, and pneumatic tools
- Basic computer skills required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Good time management and sense of urgency
- Willingness to wear company-provided uniforms
- Strong attendance and performance record required
- Ability to follow written instructions in English
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted and additional weight with assistance
