Job Description
As a Machine Operator, you will set up and operate a variety of machines to perform drilling, reaming, tapping, grinding, and related machining operations on metal workpieces. You’ll work from blueprints and shop packets to ensure each part meets exact specifications. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, with opportunities to learn multiple processes across the department.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints and shop packets to understand machining specifications and tooling requirements
- Perform machine setup, including mounting fixtures, adjusting speeds/feeds, tools, stops, and coolant
- Operate machines to drill, grind, ream, countersink, spot face, and tap metal parts
- Inspect parts at defined quality intervals and document results per fabrication procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized work area while following quality, production, and 5S standards
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent training/experience
- Ability to read basic instructions, blueprints, and perform required documentation
- Strong attention to quality, safety, and production goals
- Willingness to learn additional jobs within the department and work overtime as needed
- Basic math skills including fractions and decimals
