Job Summary
The Industrial Electrician – reports directly to the Director of Operations and is responsible for the design, installation, programming, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of all electrical and electronic control systems. This role requires strong experience in industrial controls, PLC programming, and hands-on electrical work to support and install industrial machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and equipment in an industrial environment
- Design, program, and troubleshoot industrial control systems with engineering team (PLC, HMI, and related automation systems)
- Ensure all electrical work meets applicable safety codes, standards, and inspection requirements
- Provide hands-on electrical and electronic technical support for production and maintenance teams
- Collaborate with plant personnel to improve system utilization, efficiency, and reliability
- Work with engineers and cross-functional teams to develop best practices and innovative solutions
- Plan, schedule, design, and implement approved electrical and controls-related projects
- Support startup, installation, and integration of industrial machinery and equipment
- Train maintenance staff on troubleshooting techniques and controls maintenance (including off-shift teams)
- Document equipment functionality, system updates, and process improvements
- Serve as a technical resource and consultant on all electrical and electronic projects
Qualifications
- Licensed Electrical Contractor in the State of NC
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial electrical role with controls/automation experience
- Strong background in industrial controls and programming (PLC/HMI systems)
- Proven experience installing and supporting industrial machinery and electrical systems
- Solid understanding of electrical and electronic theory
- Experience using diagnostic and testing tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment
- Knowledge of plant equipment, processes, and industrial environments
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
Work Environment & Tools
Use of power tools, electrical testing equipment, and construction/maintenance tools. Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery and production systems.
