Job Description
We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Cafeteria Manager to lead daily food service operations at a busy industrial facility. This highly visible role oversees production, food preparation, quality control, inventory, staff training, scheduling, and customer service while ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards. As the leader of the cafeteria team, this position plays a critical role in delivering exceptional service and great food to 100–300+ employees daily.
Responsibilities:
- Directs and oversees cafeteria personnel (cashiers, servers, cooks) to meet daily staffing and production needs
- Prepares schedules, assigns tasks, and provides written instructional guidance to cafeteria staff
- Trains, motivates, evaluates, and develops team members
- Maintains exceptional standards for food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety
- Estimates and orders food based on meal requirements while controlling waste and cost
- Ensures proper implementation of weekly menus and daily specials
- Monitors food quality, temperature, taste, and presentation
- Manages equipment use, maintenance, and repair documentation
- Leads and manages physical inventory, monthly reporting, and count verifications
- Oversees cash handling, Catapult system transactions, and account reconciliation
- Provides service and support to plant employees and responds to meal inquiries and requests
- Sets up serving lines, monitors production, and ensures on-time breakfast and lunch service
- Performs operational duties as needed (cooking, serving, cashiering) to support team success
- Plans and coordinates special banquets or catering requests
- Maintains product organization and ensures micro-market items are fresh and properly stocked
- Partners with the Food Service Director to communicate concerns, implement improvements, and ensure customer satisfaction
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
- ServSafe Manager Certification (required)
- 3+ years of food service management experience
- 1+ year large-volume cooking experience
- Experience in high-production kitchen or cafeteria settings
- Familiarity with southern cooking & breakfast items (preferred)
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Strong leadership, communication, and organization skills
- Ability to train, supervise, delegate, and motivate staff
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 lbs; must pass background and drug screen

The base pay range for this position starts at $37,440 annually, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Final compensation will depend on your experience, skills, and qualifications. Most hires begin below the top of the range to allow room for future growth.
