Job Description:
This temporary HR Associate role supports a food manufacturing plant by serving as the primary on-site HR contact for employees and plant leadership. The position focuses on day-to-day HR operations including employee relations, onboarding, compliance, recruiting support, and employee engagement, while partnering closely with HR leadership to promote a safe, productive, and positive workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary on-site HR contact for plant leadership and employees
- Manage day-to-day HR administration (employee status changes, personnel files, documentation)
- Support employee relations issues and guide leaders on compliant, fair resolutions
- Coordinate recruiting efforts, including job postings, interviews, offers, and onboarding
- Conduct new hire orientation and ensure accurate HRIS data entry
- Administer leaves of absence, FMLA, short-term disability, workers’ compensation, and OSHA requirements
- Support payroll processing, invoices, and plant-related expense reporting
- Assist with safety initiatives in partnership with the Health & Safety team
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and support audits
- Support annual HR processes such as performance management, benefits enrollment, and engagement surveys
- Help plan and execute employee appreciation, wellness, and engagement events
- Partner with plant leadership to improve communication and strengthen plant culture
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field
- 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements
- Ability to partner effectively with mid- to senior-level leadership
- Strong employee relations skills with sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
- Experience with HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems (Ceridian Dayforce experience a plus)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work effectively under pressure
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HR-related audits preferred
- Process improvement or Lean mindset preferred
- Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, GPHR) and basic Spanish language skills preferred
