Job Description
The Director of Data Management is responsible for establishing and owning enterprise-wide data governance, data quality, and data management practices within a growing financial services organization. This newly created role offers the opportunity to build a critical function from the ground up, serving as the primary hands-on owner of complex, enterprise data across multiple systems, custodians, and manual sources. Reporting to the COO, this position plays a key role in improving data integrity, supporting regulatory needs, and enabling continued growth, with long-term potential to evolve into a leadership role as the data function scales.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a formal data governance framework
- Develop and manage data maps, data libraries, and business definitions
- Establish ownership and stewardship standards for critical data elements
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and reliability across systems
- Partner with technology and compliance teams on data retention and regulatory needs
- Support data architecture and integration efforts with technical teams
- Serve as the primary owner of enterprise data management
- Prepare the foundation for future team growth and leadership responsibilities
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in data management, data governance, master data, or data quality roles
- Financial services or regulated industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience building or implementing data governance frameworks
- Strong understanding of data mapping, documentation, and data lifecycle management\

The base salary range for this position is $110,000–$130,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
