Job Description:
Join a company that has a 100+ year history as a Data Engineer and become a key part of a team dedicated to building out a modern data ecosystem. This organization is seeking an individual to focus on developing their data lake using cutting-edge technologies, such as Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory, within the Azure cloud environment. In this collaborative, agile role, you'll be involved in the entire software development lifecycle—from gathering requirements and design to writing data pipelines using SQL, Python, and Spark, and ensuring robust data management, quality, and governance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement scalable batch/real-time data pipelines using Azure services (data lake/warehouse) to integrate data from diverse sources.
- Create and maintain consistent, clean data models to serve as the source of truth for all organizational metrics.
- Partner with analytics and business teams to understand use cases, handle ad hoc requests, and build comprehensive business intelligence solutions to drive executive decision-making.
- Proactively monitor, manage, and resolve data integrity and quality issues, including performing data analysis and creating audits for ETL processes.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, focusing on automation, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for scalability.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including writing, testing, and troubleshooting code, providing thorough code reviews, and performing CI/CD using Azure DevOps/Git.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation and be a strong communicator when managing stakeholder expectations and discussing analytical needs.
  Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of similar work experience in data engineering
- Hands-on experience or familiarity with core Azure tools, including Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Delta Lake, Parquet, and Spark SQL.
- Strong understanding and experience with Data Lakes, Data Warehouse Concepts, and building Dimensional Data Models.
- Proven experience building and maintaining production data pipelines, ETL processes, and databases, including familiarity with the Microsoft BI stack (SSIS/SSRS/SSAS) and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience developing solutions using visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik.
- Experience working within agile development methods and possessing strong written and verbal communication skills. (Experience with SQL, Python, Powershell, and Spark is a plus.)
