Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing, multi-entity organization in Omaha. This is a fully onsite leadership role and a key position within the company’s management team.
The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and provide strategic insight to ownership and operational leadership. Construction accounting experience is strongly preferred, as job cost accounting and cash flow management are central to this role. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership experience, and the ability to build and develop an effective accounting team.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee all accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, payroll, collections, and cash management
- Lead monthly close, financial statement preparation, and operational reporting
- Manage job cost accounting, cash flow forecasting, and budgeting processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, sales/use tax, payroll tax, and annual tax support
- Develop internal controls, drive process improvements, and lead/train accounting staff
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 5+ years of progressive experience
- Controller-level experience (or equivalent Accounting Manager scope) with team leadership background
- Strong construction accounting expertise, including job cost accounting and cash flow management
- Knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, and accounting systems (Sage preferred)
- Strong communication skills and hands-on, collaborative leadership style
