Job Description
In this role you will serve as the Controller for a $50M manufacturing business unit within a highly respected, employee-owned organization. You will lead all core accounting functions including month-end close, forecasting, budgeting, audit coordination, and compliance while also elevating plant-level cost accounting across the operation.
This position blends traditional controllership responsibilities with hands-on manufacturing finance leadership. You will partner closely with operations to improve inventory accuracy, margin visibility, and financial reporting tied to production performance.
This role is remote-friendly with required travel approximately one week per month to support operational alignment and maintain visibility within manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Oversee budgeting, rolling forecasts, and weekly cash flow forecasting
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and maintain strong internal controls
- Serve as primary liaison for external audit and tax partners
- Manage and develop the accounting team including AP, AR, payroll, and staff accounting
- Strengthen plant-level cost accounting, inventory management, and margin analysis
- Partner with operations to analyze manufacturing variances and improve reporting
- Present financial results and KPIs to senior leadership
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 5–10+ years of manufacturing cost accounting experience required
- Prior Controller, Plant Controller, or Assistant Controller experience
- Strong background in standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
- Experience leading and developing accounting teams
- ERP experience required (Infor Syteline preferred; NetSuite exposure a plus)
- Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
- Willingness to travel one week per month

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $160,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
