Job Description
A community health organization is seeking a Clinic Assistant to support patient care by preparing patients for examinations, administering medications and vaccines understanding delegation orders, and following provider instructions within a clinical environment. This role requires strong communication skills, professional demeanor, bilingual capabilities, and comfort working in an electronic medical records system. Work locations may vary among Houston Health Department centers.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and vaccines following established delegation orders
- Prepare and room patients for examinations and follow provider instructions
- Assist patients with clinical procedures and support workflow within the clinic
- Document accurately in the electronic medical records system
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of a standardized medical assistant education program
- Current Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required
- Current CPR certification required
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Minimum of six months of experience in a clinic, hospital, or healthcare facility
- Must comply with AP 2-2 policy
- Must meet vaccination and health clearance requirements, including TB testing, immunizations, and blood work
