Job Description
Join a laboratory animal care team as a Cage Wash Technician. You’ll wash, sanitize, and stage cages, racks, bottles, and related equipment to support research animal husbandry in a clean, controlled lab environment. This is a hands-on, physical role that follows clear SOPs and requires comfort working around small research animals.

This is a hands-on, physical role that follows clear SOPs and requires comfort working around small research animals.
Responsibilities:
• Wash, sanitize, and sterilize animal cages/racks/bottles and cage-wash equipment per SOPs and schedules
• Refill detergents/disinfectants, check wash temperatures, complete basic equipment checks, and maintain logs
• Stage clean caging and supplies and move materials safely from dirty-to-clean areas
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace; wear required PPE and follow posted hazard signage and protocols
• Support husbandry staff with room turnover and supply runs as needed

Qualifications and Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent; prior cage wash/sanitation/facilities experience a plus
• Able to stand, walk, bend, push/pull racks, and lift throughout the shift
• Comfortable around Category I species (rodents, rabbits; may include pigs, dogs, or cats)
• Must pass a background check and pre-employment physical
• Depending on exposure and history, occupational health requirements may include: current Tdap/Td (within 10 years); Hepatitis B titer if working with human blood/tissues; RAST/ImmunoCAP (rat/mouse) testing if history of animal/environmental allergies; OSHA respiratory medical evaluation for PAPR; and PFT/N95 fit-testing when indicated
