Job Description
The Cable Assembler is responsible for fabricating wire and cable harness assemblies using appropriate tools, documentation, and workmanship standards. This role supports production by assembling high-reliability cable and harness systems while ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with IPC requirements.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate wire and cable harness assemblies using work instructions, drawings, and bills of material
- Cut and strip wire to specification
- Crimp terminals to wire ends and insert pins into connectors
- Install and shrink insulation sleeving
- Install cable ties and route assemblies properly
- Perform simple harness assembly and mechanical assembly work
- Use automated machinery for cutting, stripping, and pinning wire
- Communicate with supervisors and managers regarding production needs
- Assist in training entry-level Cable Assembly employees
Qualifications and Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to follow instructions from management with minimal supervision
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical drawings
- Skilled in the use of hand tools to cut, strip, pin, and tin wire
- Experience with automated wire processing equipment preferred
- Must be able to obtain or currently hold IPC certifications such as:
- IPC J-STD-001
- IPC/WHMA-A-620
- High school diploma preferred or 2–4 years of cable harness fabrication experience
- Ability to use hand tools for extended periods
- Must be able to differentiate wire colors
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods during shifts

The base pay range for this position is $18/hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
