Job Description:
Our client, a leading healthcare system is seeking a Contract Accountant II to support System Accounting with month-end close, complex account analysis, and general ledger reconciliations in a remote, full-time role. This position partners with internal stakeholders to prepare journal entries, financial schedules, and reporting while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely close processes. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting, 2–4 years of experience, and strong analytical and communication skills, with ERP experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Perform month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries to the general ledger
- Conduct complex account analyses and reconcile general ledger accounts, including sub-system reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve variances, escalating material issues to management as needed
- Prepare financial schedules and reports for internal leadership and external audit requests
- Support system-level financial reporting, including consolidations and eliminating entries
- Analyze revenues, expenses, and financial commitments to support forecasting and management decision-making
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and reporting deadlines
- Assist with moderately complex accounting projects and document process improvements
- Serve as a resource to less experienced staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s preferred)
- 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, general ledger, and month-end close processes
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines
- ERP system experience required (Lawson and/or Blackline preferred)
- Experience in inventory accounting is a plus
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Master’s degree in Accounting preferred.
