Job Description
The Brake Press Operator is is responsible for operating press brake machines to bend and form metal parts according to engineering drawings and production requirements. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read basic blueprints, and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts. The operator will load and position material, select and install tooling as instructed, and make routine machine adjustments (such as back gauge settings) to achieve proper bends. They will also inspect finished parts using basic measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, protractors, and calipers to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Operate press brake machines to bend and form metal parts according to work orders and drawings
- Load, position, and secure materials, ensuring proper alignment for accurate bends
- Select and install press brake tooling as instructed and make routine adjustments (back gauge, bend angle, etc.)
- Inspect completed parts using basic measuring tools to verify dimensions, angles, and quality standards
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, performing basic machine checks and reporting issues to supervision
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational fabrication training preferred.
- Blueprint Skills: Able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of bend allowances, tooling selection, forming methods, and CNC press brake programming.
- Inspection Skills: Proficient with precision measuring tools such as calipers, protractors, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
