Keeping Employees Engaged in Our Virtual World

Post by:The Reserves Network October 15, 2020

It is always important to remain engaged with your workforce, whether you are in the office or working remotely. Employee engagement takes on even more significance as our nation continues to bounce back from closures due to COVID-19.

But how do you increase employee engagement in our virtual world? Here are tips to bring your workforce together, even when you may be apart.

Contests and Virtual Games

Work doesn’t have to be boring! Set aside time to create friendly competition with your team or throughout your company and give your staff the opportunity to let loose.

The Go Game is just one example of how you can have fun with your remote coworkers after a long day at work. Virtual game platforms like this can promote creativity, teamwork and bonding—all of which are important for your company’s bottom line.

Guest Speakers

Sometimes a fresh voice can breathe new life into your work. If your team is consistently hearing you give them the same tips, the same advice, the same critiques, it can begin to seem like white noise.

Invite a subject matter expert to present to your team. The presenter can discuss industry trends, best practices or be a motivational speaker to help your staff feel more inspired.

Workshops

We all learn differently. If you’ve noticed that your team has gotten lax on processes or procedures after transitioning to a remote environment, it could be time to put them through different workshops.

Schedule work sessions that are topic-specific and devote enough time to have meaningful discussions and communicate next steps. Be sure to give your staff the opportunity to ask questions or provide feedback.

Roundtable Discussions

Keeping your employees engaged not only keeps them interested in their jobs, but also helps create necessary rapport and relationships. Team building is crucial for collaboration, but listening to your employees is just as, if not more, important.

A roundtable discussion is an open forum designed to allow space for honest and productive conversation. For example, schedule a roundtable discussion once a month, or whenever works best for your team, via video conference to discuss highs and lows, worries, professional development opportunities, and more.

At The Reserves Network, we just concluded our 2021 Strategic Planning Meetings. All the above tips and tricks were utilized to keep everyone engaged throughout the event.

We know it can be difficult to keep your staff engaged as you once did. For more workforce management tips, or if you are in need of a remote workforce, contact our recruiting experts today.
