Job Description
Are you a current or recent Accounting or Finance graduate looking to launch your career? Or perhaps you have some accounts payable experience and are ready to take the next step? We are partnering with an established and growing organization in the Ames area seeking an Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant to join its accounting team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, is detail-oriented, and wants to gain hands-on accounting experience in a professional environment. While the initial focus will be on accounts payable, this position offers the opportunity to expand into account reconciliations, general ledger accounting, month-end close, and other accounting responsibilities as you develop.

What You'll Do
- Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, appropriate coding, and timely payment.
- Review and reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Communicate with vendors and internal departments regarding invoices and payments.
- Maintain accurate accounts payable records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with invoice approvals, payment processing, and expense tracking.
- Support general ledger reconciliations and month-end accounting activities.
- Help maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities.
- Assist with accounting projects, process improvements, and additional responsibilities as you grow into the position.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Previous accounts payable, bookkeeping, accounting, or relevant internship experience preferred.
- Recent graduates and early-career professionals are encouraged to apply.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn.
- Comfortable working with Excel and other computer applications.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
