Job Description
We are seeking a detail oriented Construction Drafter to develop accurate construction drawings, plan sets, and 3D models for agricultural and commercial building projects.
This role works closely with engineering, estimating, preconstruction, and field teams to turn site information, engineering requirements, and client concepts into accurate, buildable plans. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys seeing their designs move from the drawing stage into actual construction.
Responsibilities
• Produce detailed construction drawings and plan sets for agricultural and commercial building projects
• Develop and refine 3D models that help visualize projects and identify potential constructability issues before construction
• Translate site survey information, engineering input, and client specifications into accurate drawings
• Support projects involving steel, fabric, timber framed, concrete, and other building systems
• Coordinate with engineering, estimating, and preconstruction teams to align drawings with project scope, budgets, permitting requirements, and schedules
• Revise drawings based on engineering feedback, field conditions, and client requested changes
• Identify potential drawing conflicts or constructability concerns before they become field issues
• Maintain organized and accurate drawing files and version control
• Assist with permit drawing packages and other project documentation
Qualifications and Requirements
• Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, or comparable CAD software
• Degree or certificate in Drafting, Design Technology, Construction Technology, or equivalent practical drafting experience
• Understanding of construction methods, materials, and drawing standards
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to interpret technical information and translate it into practical construction drawings
• Ability to manage multiple active projects and changing priorities
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, estimators, and construction professionals
Preferred Experience
• Agricultural or ag commercial construction
• Post frame or steel frame buildings
• Concrete construction
• 3D modeling
• Construction permitting and plan sets
• Experience developing drawings that are used directly by field construction teams
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is more than someone who knows CAD software. They understand that the drawings they produce ultimately need to work in the field.
This person is detail focused, organized, comfortable asking questions when specifications are unclear, and able to collaborate closely with engineering and construction teams. Someone interested in eventually growing into broader preconstruction or project management responsibilities could find significant long term opportunity in this position.
Benefits and Perks
• Base salary of $75,000 to $85,000
• Direct hire opportunity
• Exposure to the complete preconstruction and project development process
• Opportunity to work on projects across agricultural, protein processing, and commercial construction
• Long term growth potential within construction, preconstruction, and project management
